The Chiang Mai Field Lab follows the participant-driven format of an “Open Event” or unconference. Open Events are designed to allow maximum flexibility attendees to develop projects, collaborate with other attendees, or experiment with new ideas. Each week has several guiding themes but attendees are encouraged to bring their own projects to work on and/or support the work of other participants. The current weekly schedule is here.
At 9:00 on Monday morning of each week we introduce new attendees, describe the goals for each of the projects, and allow participants to pitch their own ideas to the rest of the group. Otherwise, we will only have short logistics and announcements every day at 9:00. Each Friday afternoon at 15:30 we reconvene to present progress and achievements made during the week. Participants also organize field trips around Chiang Mai to flood management sites, listen to lectures from local flooding experts, or attend other social events with the group.
