I am Abhay Vir Singh Kanwar finishing PhD from Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai. In PhD I am collating 2013 floods and 2021 glacier burst in Uttarakhand in the backdrop of interlinkages between climate change, public health and role of media. My MPhil dissertation from IIT Bombay comprehensively focused on the role of NGOs as agents and how they through their operational mechanisms restore vulnerable populations to their agency to access nutrition so that they don’t remain malnourished. Prior to joining IIT Bombay, I did masters in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi.
On a professional front I was working as faculty in National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur where I offered three courses: Environmental Engineering & Management, Principles of Management and Organisational Behaviour. It was complemented by two short termed courses on environmental management from IISc Bangalore and corporate governance and CSR from IIT Kharagpur which lay emphasis on environment impact assessment and fiduciary responsibilities of multinational corporations towards natural environment respectively.
Apart from the above two courses, I also did short term courses on Gender Justice and corporate law & intellectual property rights again from IIT Kharagpur and FICCI New Delhi respectively. While the former introduced me to the various tones and shades of feminism and feminist standpoint theory, the latter exposed me to the nuances and the technicalities of legal matrices of corporate law which is the bedrock of entire contemporary financial edifice.
