Dr. Bingwei Tian, an Associate Professor, holds a Ph.D. in Engineering with a focus on Remote Sensing and Urban Engineering from Kyoto University, along with an M.S. from the Institute of Mountain Hazards and Environment, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Dean of the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction at Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and also as the Deputy Director of the Provincial Demonstration Center for Comprehensive Training of Safety and Emergency Skills at Sichuan University. He has enriched his academic journey as a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and is acknowledged as a distinguished overseas talent in Sichuan Province.
Dr. Tian's research encompasses International Disaster Risk Reduction Education, Disaster Mapping, Remote Sensing, and Natural Disasters. With a robust portfolio, he has actively contributed to over 30 scientific research projects, authored more than 50 papers, edited seven monographs, and authored a book on Disaster Reduction Ecological and Artistic Map (DREAM), besides his involvement in compiling a disaster atlas. Notably, his efforts in the aftermath of the 2015 Nepal Earthquake earned him the "Nepal Disaster Reconstruction for China-Nepal Friendship Award," presented by the ambassador of Nepal to China.
Dr. Tian plays pivotal roles in various professional committees, including serving as a member of the Expert Group of Disaster Prevention Education Professional Committee of the China Disaster Prevention Association, Vice Secretary-General of the Sichuan Emergency Management Society, and Secretary-General of the Campus Safety Special Committee, among other esteemed positions.
