Mohan Mainali
Mohan Mainali is a Nepali journalist with more than three decades of experience. He has covered mainly the environmental issues for national, regional and international media. He has extensively traveled to Nepal's remote areas to collect stories for Aankhijhyal, the only television magazine telecast by Nepal Television, then Nepal's only TV station. Produced by Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists the magazine has reported on the issues neglected by other media.
As the director/editor of the Centre for Investigative Journalism, Nepal he has provided fellowships and mentoring to journalists to produce investigative stories. During the decade-long armed conflict he ventured to the far-flung villages to highlight the plight of the civilians caught in the crossfire. Such travels resulted in long-form print and radio stories and video documentaries. Based on the insights he gained while reporting from the unreported Nepal he has written two books: Upallo Thalo (Highlands) and Mantha Darayeko Jug (when a human being is afraid of another human being). For his latest book Mukam Rana Maidan (Dateline Battlefields) he has gone through the dispatches (including the classified ones) sent by Nepali and English field commanders to weave the real story of Nepal-Britain War of 1814-16. Mainali also serves as a trainer for the training on investigative journalism and feature writing.
