Ms. Pooja Upadhyay is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), India, with a focus on quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from riverine ecosystems and their correlation with water quality and land use/land cover (LULC). She holds a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management from Indraprastha University, Delhi, and is a recipient of the UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship in Environmental Science, awarded in July 2019. Pooja has diverse experience in research and project management roles. She served as a Research Officer at the India Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) on the "Climate Smart Governance" project sponsored by DST. Additionally, she worked as a Manager (Community & Stakeholder Engagement) at the Himalayan Action Research Centre (HARC), Dehradun, "Partners for Resilience: Strategic Partnership" project in collaboration with Wetlands International South Asia (WISA), Delhi. In this project, she has worked on Integrated Risk Management, which is based on the principles of Climate Change Adaptation, Ecosystem Management & Restoration and Disaster Risk Reduction. While working with different organization in different roles, she has developed skills in capacity building of community, liasoning with government officials, Stakeholder Engagement, Participatory Rural Appraisal. Her grassroots experience with rural mountain communities has equipped her with a deep understanding of community dynamics and facilitated effective liaison with government officials.
Beyond her academic and professional endeavors, Pooja actively participates in extracurricular activities, holding multiple positions within the hostel and department. Her involvement showcases her dedication to campus engagement and leadership development among her peers.
