I am a PhD candidate at the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction at University College London. My doctoral research focuses on the intersecting discourses of Indigeneity and climate change in Nepal. I am interested in understanding Indigenous knowledge and identity, climate change and disaster narratives, and ecological and cultural loss using the lens of gender and intersectionality. I use oral histories, archival and ethnographic research methods, but I am also interested in exploring participatory, collaborative, and creative methods of knowledge production. Prior to joining the doctoral programme, I worked in the higher education and the international development sectors in London and Kathmandu. I have experience conducting research in areas related to post-war transition, land relations, women’s political participation, post-earthquake reconstruction, and gendered impacts of infrastructure development and urbanisation.
I hold an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford, and an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalisation from the London School of Economics. I completed my bachelor’s degree in International Development from Middlesex University.
