Sherene Tan

Sherene is a Master in Public Policy student at the NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy studying policymaking through the lens of environmental and climate challenges. With a background in environmental science, she is passionate about bridging the gap between science and policy, as well as curious about the fundamentals of sound policymaking.
Possessing over eight years of diverse professional experience, Sherene also currently works with sea-level scientists at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, facilitating synergy in research and communications across different research teams and promoting cross-disciplinary science. Earlier in her career, she was a marine biologist spearheading a coral conservation project and promoting marine science education in the Maldives, where she got to witness first-hand the impacts of climate change and human activities on natural habitats. Her experience and skills in facilitation and design thinking further empowers her to connect people and insights of different disciplines, enabling her to analyse and address challenges from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
In her free time, she enjoys engaging in self-care, exploring new ideas and watching Netflix.
