My name is Tehzeeb Bano. I belong to the Himalayan Ranges of Pakistan i.e., Gilgit Baltistan. Being a woman and belonging to the remotest area of Pakistan it was such a challenge for me to go out of the village for higher education, however encountering lots of challenges I made my way by moving towards the other places for my higher studies. I did my master's degree in Public Policy from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management, South Korea. Currently, I am pursuing my Ph.D. degree in Social Practice and Transformational Change (International Development) at the University of Guelph, Canada. My Ph.D. research project is on the topic, Indigenous Mountainous Communities in Gilgit Baltistan: Responding to Climate Change Challenges Using Indigenous Knowledge. Glacier Grafting is based on local indigenous knowledge being carried by rural localities of the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges of Pakistan. As a practice glacier grafting integrated various cultural elements including customs, ritual traditions, and spiritual practices. Belonging to the rural mountainous community of the extreme North of Pakistan, I have always been observing the indigenous environmental practices, and traditional creative activities of my community since my childhood. I see the use of indigenous knowledge as a viable approach to promoting sustainable development in impoverished rural communities. My overarching goal is to connect with individuals worldwide who share similar interests and collaborate to create something innovative and meaningful together.
